POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for the supervision and oversight of the curriculum development for the Upstream Professional Development Center including training materials for developing upstream technical professionals. Emphasis is placed on training and developing Saudi nationals in instructional design methodology and technology. In addition position will be responsible for training Saudi nationals as trainers of upstream technical professionals. Responsibilities include defining best practices from external "best-in-class" industrial training organizations, identifying innovative teaching methods making staff development more effective, providing templates to Subject Matter Specialists, and using technology and multimedia as tools to enhance instruction. Incumbent will be responsible for coordinating with the Research and Quality Assurance groups within the UPDC to understand methods to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills, assessing instructors, and developing procedures and guidelines for building learner assessments and instructor assessments. Additional responsibilities include developing long range plans for course development and managing the design, implementation and evaluation of curriculum projects.
SELECTION CRITERIA: BS Instructional Design or Education is required and a MS or Doctorate Degree is preferred. A minimum of ten years experience in the use of instructional design principles and how they relate to both teaching and learning of adults. Instructional design skills and thorough knowledge of instructional design models and methodology is a must. Thorough knowledge of spoken and written English. Project management experience and consulting skills.
COMMENTS: The Upstream Professional Development Center reports to the Director of E&P Continuing Excellence, who in turn reports to the Sr. VP of Exploration &Producing. Frequent, direct contacts are made with technical professional subject matter, research and quality assurance experts to assess and develop curriculum plans and assessment materials. Frequent management briefings and presentations are made to ensure new curriculum is aligned with Exploration & Producing priorities.
